FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Concise answers about WSData security, deployment, pricing, and verification.

Can WSData read our files?

WSData is designed so files are encrypted before upload and plaintext does not need to exist inside WSData-controlled infrastructure.

Where is our data stored?

In the customer’s own cloud environment, depending on the deployment model agreed with your organisation.

Who controls the keys?

The customer controls the key management boundary. WSData is positioned for customer-controlled KMS and HSM-ready environments.

Is this SaaS?

WSData provides the secure application layer and deployment process, but the BYOC model is deliberately different from conventional vendor-hosted SaaS storage.

How is this different from Box or ShareFile?

Traditional platforms usually centralise customer data in vendor-controlled infrastructure. WSData is designed around client-side encryption, customer-owned cloud infrastructure, customer-controlled keys, and cryptographic provenance.

What happens if WSData is compromised?

The architecture is designed to avoid WSData becoming a central holder of readable customer data. A vendor compromise should not expose a shared store of plaintext customer files, though endpoint security and identity controls still matter.

Can documents be verified offline?

Yes. Provenance verification is designed so document authenticity and tamper status can be checked independently, including offline workflows.

Do you charge per user?

Current pricing is positioned around verified company domains and unlimited users on that domain, not conventional per-seat pricing.

Who pays cloud hosting costs?

The customer pays hosting costs directly to the cloud provider. This keeps infrastructure billing and ownership with the customer.

How hard is deployment?

Deployment is Terraform-led and intended for capable IT or security teams. WSData-assisted launch options are available where teams want help getting live.

Can we use our own domain and branding?

Yes. WSData is designed to support customer domain, logo, branding, storage, access policy, and key management choices.

Is WSData suitable for regulated industries?

WSData is designed for organisations with high confidentiality, integrity, and governance requirements. It can support regulated environments, but formal certification claims should be assessed against your specific deployment and controls.
